ABOUT
Damon L. Ward is an experienced litigator and successful trial attorney. Mr. Ward has also been selected as a “Rising Star” and listed in Who’s Who in Intellectual Property by Minnesota Law & Politics. “Rising Stars” represent 3% of the lawyers licensed to practice in Minnesota. He concentrates his practice on counseling, negotiating, and litigating complex business and intellectual property matters. Notably, Mr. Ward has also served as Special Counsel for the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General and recently as Special Intellectual Property Counsel to a Fortune 100 corporation. He has also assisted in the administration of nationwide class action settlements involving multiple defendants. In addition to strategic information auditing, and consulting on complete intellectual property planning, access, and protection, Mr. Ward handles a broad range of civil matters.
Before entering the practice of law, Mr. Ward had a career as a Systems Engineer for the EDS Division of General Motors and a Systems Logistics Consultant for a Washington, D.C., military defense contractor. Mr. Ward is a graduate of Gannon University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and Hamline University School of Law (1991), where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Hamline Law Review. He is an active member of and has held leadership positions within the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, the National Bar Association (Commercial Law Section), Minnesota State Bar Association, the Minnesota Intellectual Property Association, the National Conference of Black Lawyers, and the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers.
Mr. Ward has lectured on intellectual property issues and has co-chaired the Intellectual Property Series: Securing and Protecting IP Rights, San Juan, Puerto Rico on patent, trademark, trade secret, and art protection issues
